Who We Are

Galeria Santa Clara first opened in June 1993.

From the very beginning we have aimed to make art available to people and to contribute to the cultural enrichment of the community.

We think it is fundamental to create things for, as well as with, those around us.

The art installations on the façade aim to enhance the street and interact with the passers-by arousing their curiosity (interest) and empathy towards the displays inside.

The partnerships with other institutions, public or private, associations, autarchies, schools or enterprises, are fundamental, both for our own as well as for external projects.

We are concerned with our neighbours and make an effort to integrate them in our initiatives.

We feel that the collaboration and support of interested friends and the goodwill of those who work with us are invaluable.

Since artistic expressions are varied and interlinked, we promote exhibitions, art installations, video and cinema shows, concerts, lectures/ readings, workshops and art courses.
Supporting young people is one of the main aspects of our activity and we contribute by hosting bands, providing space and equipment for rehearsals, promoting and supporting concerts and presentations of work by recently qualified young artists as well as by others already established.
